Alloy Steel Bars
These bars cover a broad range of grades and application. They are available in rolled bars, or forged bars in sizes from 20mm to 800mm.
- High tensile steel
Grades such as 4140, 4340, EN26
Supplied in the quenched and tempered condition. - Grades for case hardening applications such as gears and pinions
Grades like AISI 4317 (17CrNiMo6), EN36A
Supplied in the annealed condition. - Other alloy steel
Grades (AISI 8620, EN39B, UNS K32550)
Rolled bars, or forged
Sizes from 20mm to 800mm.
Toolsteel Bars
These are a large variety of grades, in bars, forged blocks and sheets.
- Grades include D2, D3, S1, S5, O1, A2, A6, H11, H13
Available on round, flat and forged bars - High speed steels - M1 and M2
- Plastic mould steels - P20
- Sheets - available in some grades
Carbon Steel Bars
These bars are either hot rolled or hot forged. Rolled bars are supplied from 16mm to 230mm and hot forged bars from 200mm to 800mm. Common grades are AISI 1045 (JIS S45C) and AISI 1020.
Cold Finished Bright Bars
These bars are cold drawn or peeled and reeled or centreless ground to achieve better surface finish and diameter tolerance. They are commonly used for machining (turning, milling and drilling).
- Grades include AISI 1018, AISI 1045, and free cutting grade 1214 and leaded free cutting grade S12L14.
- Depending on the grade the size range is 3.15mm to 101.6mm in round sections, and 4.0mm to 50mm in hexagonal and square sections.
Spring Steel Bars
Spring steel bars are used for the manufacture of coil and leaf springs. We provide
- Round bars from 16mm to 70mm and flat bars up to 100 x 13mm.
- Some of the flat sections are stocked at the mill which is suitable for smaller quantities and faster delivery.
- Common grades are Japanese Standards SUP 7 and SUP 9.
Hard Chromed Bars
Hard Chromed Bars are used in Hydraulic and Pneumatic cylinders. The base material is commonly AISI 1045 (S45C) however other base grades are 20MnV6 and 4140. Depending on the corrosion resistance required a variety of hard chromed surface qualities and thicknesses are available. Also Induction Hardened Chromed bars are availaible. A common measure of corrosion resistance is minimum hours of salt spray test. Sizes range from 6mm to 200mm.
Other Speciality Metals
We provide a large variety of Specialty Metals.
- Sheets in stainless steels grade 420B, 440
- Sheets in toolsteels D2, D3, M2
- High carbon sheets AISI 1055 and AISI 1075 used by knife and saw manufacturers.
- Titanium bars, wire and sheets
- Nickel Alloys in sheets and plates.
